“Distributing food - alleviating poverty”

The Swiss Food Bank Foundation builds a bridge from abundance to scarcity.

Volunteers, community service workers and people from work integration programs collect around 30 tons of surplus, perfectly good food from retailers every day and distribute it free of charge to over 500 social institutions.

The soup kitchens, women's shelters and food distribution points that take advantage of the deliveries cook hot meals or pass on the food unprocessed so that families, homeless people or refugees can enjoy a nutritious meal.

With every franc donated, the Schweizer Tafel can save products for several meals. By saving food, it also makes a contribution to climate protection. Avoiding food waste saves resources and reduces CO2 emissions. A donation to the Schweizer Tafel is worthwhile in more ways than one!
